Pro Bono Program Intern (open to Work Study only)

The Mithoff Pro Bono Program at Texas Law (MPBP) is seeking mature and driven undergraduate students to work a flexible schedule while gaining exposure to the environment of the UT School of Law. This position will interact with supervising attorneys, pro bono scholars and clients, providing insight into life at a top ranked law school. As an MPBP intern, you join a community dedicated to public service and legal education.
 
The position is for between 12-15 hours a week, preferably with availability on one evening or weekend a month. Work will be completed on-site in the CCJ building, suite 1.324 with occasional hours at off-site clinics (transportation will be provided). The position is for the Fall 2021 and Spring 2022 semesters.
 
Our ideal candidate has:
  •  a high level of attention to detail
  • an interest in pursuing a legal education after undergraduate
  • is bilingual in Spanish and English and comfortable translating written documents
  • high level of proficiency with Excel and experience with other Microsoft Office products (Word, Outlook)
  • experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Acrobat, Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Dreamweaver)
  • familiarity promoting organizations on social media
 
DUTIES include maintaining records and files which are confidential in nature. Data entry (updating client database, reporting student pro bono hours). Assist at legal clinics during the academic year as your schedule allows. Prepare copies and other materials for legal clinics and trainings. Prepare travel documents for pro bono trips. Review the accuracy of various documents. Translate documents from English to Spanish.
