Park Ranger Internship

Are you ages 16-24, a City of San Diego resident residing in a Community of Concern, and interested in working in the urban wilderness? If so, join the Park Ranger Program and learn about cultural and natural resources. Park Rangers provide the public with a safe recreational environment and promote community stewardship. Work with a Park Ranger and learn about habitat restoration design and preparation of exhibits and publication materials. Watch the development of interpretive programs and nature walks on the natural and historical features of regional parks. Meet community groups and organizations, and assist the public regarding park facilities, services and improvements. 

Important dates:
September 9, 2021: Job Fair/Meet and Greet (you will receive an invitation after you apply and if you are eligible)
October-November 2021: Leader Academy/Training
December 2021-June 2022: Internship (remainder of 300 hours)

Interns must be currently enrolled in an academic program. Please select school name in application.  Please personalize your cover letter for the application (there is the capability to post three different letters if you are applying for multiple opportunities). You will need to provide proof of enrollment in an academic program if selected. To expedite the process you may attach proof in your application. Please allow for 6-8 weeks for the City of San Diego intern on-boarding process from posting date. If you have not received a response 8 weeks after your application, please contact workreadiness@sandiego.gov.
