Graduate Assistant, Global Leadership and Social Impact

The office of Global Leadership and Social Impact (GLSI), otherwise known as DDCE Global, ensures that all students have access to transformational education abroad opportunities that challenge them to engage with what it means to be a global citizen. Our award-winning global programs give students a project-based academic internship with real-world work experience in dynamic and rapidly changing cities — Beijing, China; Cape Town, South Africa, Puebla, Mexico and Dubai, UAE! We are seeking a fulltime GA (20/ hours a week) for the 21-22 academic year. Below is a description for the primary roles and functions of this position:

·      Develop workshops and programming related to the goals of DDCE Global
·      Build strong relationships and create professional development programming for Global Student Fellows (GSF)
·      Work with GSF’s to put on Diversity Abroad Showcase in early Fall (September)
·      Coordinate Fall DDCE Global workshops (showcase, writing workshops, backpacking workshop, Funding study abroad workshop, etc.)
·      Help recruit students for our study abroad programs
·      Mine through our data to create semester briefs on our programs and impact
·      Participate in one of our global trips for 2022 (Dubai or Cape Town)

Qualifications:
·      Have passion and experience with intercultural learning and cultural intelligence
·      Experience working with students in an academic environment 
·      Strong written and oral communication skills
·      Experience with public speaking
·      Ability to maintain confidentiality with student records and information
·      Some knowledge of academic advising, counseling skills, and/or student development theory preferred 
·      Interest in experiential and/or interdisciplinary learning preferred
·      Experience studying abroad or knowledge of international education programs (preferred)


Terms of Employment: 
We are hiring for one paid 20-hour/week Graduate Assistant position for the 21-22 academic year (fall & spring semesters). A Tuition Reduction Benefit is NOT available for this position. Graduate students must be enrolled for at least 9 hours at UT Austin this fall to be eligible for this position. Because this is a 20-hour/week position, it does provide eligibility for Resident Tuition Entitlement and insurance benefits.
