You Should Have & What You Should Expect
- Prefer (2) or more years of serving experience in a high volume fine or casual dining restaurant
- A valid TABC Certification and Food Handlers Certification is required and must be obtained before entering this position
- Maintain an understanding of the proper steps of service required of all FOH service positions
- Maintain mental athleticism for coordination between the cycles of service of those dining at the bar, and producing the beverages needed in other areas of the restaurant
- Strong communication and listening skills to effectively deliver accurate messaging to both guests and teammates
- Have a professional knowledge base of classic and creative cocktails
- Can interpret guest’s desires and bring them to life in liquid form
- Have a base knowledge and understanding of classic cookery, while having an advanced understanding of wine, beer, and cocktails
- Menu and beverage knowledge is kept current as menus evolve
- Have a general knowledge and understanding of Department of Health (DOH) food safety standards
- Derives pleasure from providing hospitality
- Engage with guests and be able to recommend cocktails and suggest alternatives
- Responsible to monitor, restock, and replenish bar inventory and supplies
- Assist the PDT team in collaborating on the beverage menu
- Maintain constant communication with colleagues to anticipate guest needs and seat availability
- Deep knowledge of spirits, classic cocktails, wine, beer and proper technique.
