DSHS ALTSA CISM Program Manager

$85,000.00 - $105,000.00 Annually

Adult Protective Services Division is seeking a psychologist like you with specialized expertise in Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM). In this role, you will administer the CISM Program, applying evidence-based psychological principles and research methods to help the agency mitigate stressors for staff and improve productivity. Your experience and education will play a key part in responding to difficult situations that result in trauma or vicarious trauma to staff.
 
This is your chance to have a wide-ranging impact on the emotional wellness of a staff that does important work across our state for Long-Term Services and Supports Programs. You will also have a chance to help shape statewide policies and procedures, having an impact on all levels and disciplines of employees with Adult Protective Services. This unique opportunity is an 18-month limited-duration project role funded through the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act of 2021. There are two vacancies for this role (Spokane/Seattle), while much of the work can be done remotely, you will need to reside within a reasonable traveling distance from the field offices you will be supporting in either the Spokane or Seattle areas.
 
  Some of what you’ll do:
  • Oversee and implement CISM training and program development 
  • Provide consultation and assist staff in addressing personal or work issues that impact their effectiveness and production
  • Advise and assist team members in situations when more specialized, professional care is needed, including providing referrals and crisis intervention when needed 
  • Provide community and online mental health resources and referrals as needed 
  • Advise appointing authority of common trends and assist in developing workable solutions that relate to employee retention, job satisfaction, productivity, teamwork, and emotional well-being 
  • Provides consultation to management on ways to enhance staff support and well-being in the work environment
 
 What we're looking for
  • Experience in working with a political environment and history of working collaboratively with a broad spectrum of stakeholders, including state and local elected officials, other state agencies, local governments, tribal leaders, community-based organizations, Area Agencies on Aging, contracted providers, and advocacy groups
  • Understanding of programs, principles, regulations, and statutes related to the ALTSA programs
  • Ability to coach, mentor, and train staff at all levels.
  • Ability to evaluate, compile, organize data in reports, policies and deliver data to groups, or use to direct and evaluate the work of others.
  • Demonstrated ability to collect and analyze data from multiple systems and make thoughtful recommendations that result in positive program changes.

Who should apply:
  • Completion of a doctoral degree from a regionally accredited institution or meets the requirements of WAC 246-924-046
  • Valid State of Washington licensure as a psychologist or the ability to obtain licensure within one year of hire
  • Obtain CISM approved training certificate within one year of hire
