Employment Trends Analyst

Position Open To: Applicants must be Masters or PhD students. Graduate Assistants do not need to be enrolled during the summer for summer employment as long as they enrolled in at least 6 hours in the previous Spring. If they were not enrolled in the previous spring, they must be enrolled for at least 3 hours in the summer for summer employment.
Earliest Start Date: June 21, 2020
Position Duration: Summer 2021 – Summer 2022
Location: Remote work (+UT Campus if applicable)
Weekly Scheduled Hours: Up to 19 hours per week
Pay: $20 per hour
 
Purpose:
The position will be responsible for researching and analyzing economic data, issues, and trends to develop resources and presentations for the Employer Engagement Team at Texas Career Engagement. The Employer Engagement team creates and manages student-employer engagement for internship and career opportunities, talent acquisition strategy development, industry exploration and knowledge, and career education and mentorship. This role will dive into research regarding the future of work to identify companies and organizations forming in or moving to central Texas; how technologies are impacting the world of work and the student experience; new job types, wages, titles, and skills; and other relevant information to help prepare undergraduate students at UT for the evolving career landscape.
 
Essential Functions:
  • Researches and benchmarks relevant resources on local to global economic data to identify employment issues and trends
  • Co-creates content for weekly digest, bi-weekly Employment Trends Briefing, and monthly statistical reports
  • Supports employer prospecting efforts and tracking in Hubspot and HireUTexas powered by Handshake
  • Analyzes and identifies new leads for the employer engagement team
  • Collaborates closely with all Texas Career Engagement teams to identify relevant resources for reference and research
Required qualifications:
  • Analytical and quantitative skills and experience in managing data
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (through email and reports)
  • Strong content creation and delivery skills; technological proficiency
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to work independently
  • Demonstrated initiative and follow-through skills; punctuality and professional demeanor
 
 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience analyzing and forecasting economic and labor trends
  • Prior experience working in a university career services capacity
