Salary: 

This role is typically filled at an hourly rate of $13.21
 

About the Job:

As the Communications intern you will assist the Employer Engagement Team’s Communications, also known as promotion or marketing. You will help our team communicate with our various audiences including virtual and in person presentations, in written communications and in Social Media. While assisting with a wide range of projects, you will gain hands-on experience and training in many aspects of marketing and development, while also gaining a good understanding of a government agency.

A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this role are as follows:
 
  • Assist with the implementation of the Strategic Development plan for communications, including newsletters (internal, external).
  • Attend meetings to report and provide input from the Social Media POV for overall marketing efforts of the season and concert cycle.
  • Be point person on tasks related to implementing the Strategic Development and Communications plan related to social media.
  • Assist in coordinating with web master.
  • Assist in creating videos to share testimonials and successes
  • Assist with program edits
  • Assist staff with promoting resources and opportunities
  • Assist staff with tracking, formatting and archiving reviews and other media
  • Maintain and update the social media sites
  • Assist in the production of advertisements, press releases, and promotional materials
  • Regularly use Social Media Tools (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Google+, etc.) for agency communications

What You'll Need for Success:

  • Currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate in an accredited post-secondary institution, and will have completed, at minimum, one year of undergraduate education by May 
  • Strong written and oral communication abilities
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to research, understand, and apply complex information in law, regulations, and policy
  • Self-motivated, ability to work independently and with others
  • Passion for effective communication and utilizing various tools to deliver messaging
  • Excellent computer skills with experience in Social Media & Microsoft office
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality


Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

This role does not provide direct supervision to direct reports.
 

Benefits of Employment with the State of Indiana:

This seasonal position does not offer benefits and is limited to 180 working days in an eleven (11) month continuous period
