Student Supervisor for William C. Powers, Jr. Student Activity Center Ambassadors (Open to Work Study and Non-Work Study)

*Work Study and regular part-time undergraduate student employment is available for this role*

Start Date: Fall 2021

Available shifts for this role:
Monday, Wednesday and Friday or Tuesday, Thursday: 7a-10a, 10a-1p,11a-2p, 1-5p, 2-6p, 5-9p, 6-9p, 8-11p, 10p-1a
Saturday: 9:45a-1p, 1-4p, 4-7p, 7-10p, 9p-1a
Sunday: 11:45a-3p, 3-6p, 6-9p, 9p-1a


This position serves as the representative and the face of the William C. Powers, Jr. Student Activity Center as well as the supervisor overseeing the student-workers at the Hospitality Desk and Ticket Booth. The Student Supervisor ensures that all Ambassadors are kept informed about policies and procedures, new schedules, and events in the building. The candidate must be able to delegate tasks effectively and maintain a professional work relationship with WCP staff and student workers at all times. Organization and dedication to this position is vital to the success of the building and its service to the University community. This position requires highly effective communication skills, attention to detail, and an ability work well with others. The Supervisor must be approachable and eager to share knowledge about the William C. Powers, Jr. Student Activity Center and the University in-person and by email.  


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Must be available to work on weekends and cover unoccupied shifts.
  • Assist fellow student Ambassadors with any work-related issues.
  • Be able to navigate through information and answer questions about WCP, University Unions, and the UT and Austin communities.
  • Assign student Ambassadors daily duties.
  • Write up end of the semester evaluations for the Student Ambassadors.
  • Provide educational tours of the SAC’s sustainability effort.
  • Receive phone calls to the SAC general information line.
  • Create documents or presentations for administrative purposes, such as Digiknow Slides.
  • Assist with building evacuations and emergency procedures.
  • Maintain the Hospitality Desk, ensuring it remains tidy and professional looking.
  • Assist with all outgoing and incoming mail communications, including email.
  • Assist all full-time WCP Staff with general administrative duties.
  • Create and organize decorations for the Hospitality Desk.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of all SAC, University Unions, and campus-wide information and happenings.
  • Be well informed of all the building’s activities as well as policies and procedures.
  • Must be punctual, responsible, a team player, assertive, friendly, and driven.
  • Possess great communication skills.
  • Previous sales and customer service experience, as well as previous experience as a supervisor.
  • Vast knowledge of the University and Austin communities is a plus. 

In addition to the requirements for the position, you must meet the following requirements to be considered for all positions in the University Unions.

  • Be a current student at The University of Texas at Austin or other college/university and be registered for at least six (6) credit hours.
