ABOUT STEP UP:
Step Up is embarking on a new five-year strategic plan, focused on strengthening existing programs and expanding its footprint nationally through a blended mentorship model of virtual, in person, and independent learning methodologies. The Step Up VISTA Initiative supports this work by engaging a diverse network of community partners, designing and implementing programs for teens and young adults equipping them with the tools, networks and resources to be successful in college and careers, and engaging women as members who contribute financially to our mission and serve as mentors. Step Up believes that when all girls have the opportunity to fulfill their potential, our communities are more just, representative, and will flourish. With free programs beginning in high school and continuing throughout young adulthood, Step Up provides the developmental experiences and relationships needed to overcome gender and racial inequities, close the opportunity gap, create meaningful change in their lives, and ultimately succeed in the 21st century. Step Up implements a unique blended mentorship model. Its hallmark, short-term, group exposure to many women, allows girls to exercise their ability to relate confidently to adults, learn to network successfully, and reap the benefits of a powerful “village” of support. Step Up’s focus on social emotional wellbeing skill development and mentorship lends itself directly to career exploration and provides program participants with invaluable first-hand exposure to a variety of industries and strong professional female role models. Through participation in Step Up, girls are able explore career opportunities based on their own individual strengths, values, and preferences and have proven to both jumpstart and deepen a girls college and career exploration. After experiencing Step Up programming, 76% of girls said they were more confident, and 75% said they were more career-ambitious.
ABOUT THE ROLE:
As a Program Associate, you'll join our Programs team to help bring to life our social-emotional skill-building and mentorship programs for girls, young women + gender-expansive teens/young adults. The Program Associate helps support Step Up's program implementation across our national organization. You’ll also source, maintain, and improve organization-wide program resources and systems. You're a great fit if you have a passion for mentorship and issues pertaining to women and girls and/or background in experiential learning and group facilitation. The successful candidate will be flexible, organized, creative, energetic, and have experience communicating and building relationships with teens/young adults. Experience with Microsoft Suite + Salesforce a plus!
