POSITION TITLE:  Postdoctoral Associate

POSITION SUMMARY:

A Postdoctoral Associate is a direct pay individual in a Division 3 status. Postdoctoral Associates are appointed positions for the purpose of developing scholarly competence, working under the supervision of a TSRI Faculty member. These appointments are normally not renewed beyond a total of six years. Postdoctoral Associates cannot apply for external funding either as a Principal Investigator or Co-Principal Investigator without prior approval from a Departmental Chair. Postdoctoral Associates do not have consulting privileges.

The Farzan laboratory at the Scripps Research is seeking an exceptional individual for a Postdoctoral Associate position in the field of HIV-1 cure research. The Farzan lab uses AAV-expressed antibody-like proteins to establish functional cures in SHIV and SIV-infected non-human primates. The position includes design and oversight of laboratory and NHP studies to make these cures more robust, and determine if long-term expression of antibody-like molecules can increase the decay rate of the viral reservoir. A successful candidate would be ambitious, have strong organizational, experimental, and leadership skills, and a background in HIV biology and/or NHP studies. The Florida campus of The Scripps Research Institute offers strong, well-resourced science and a high quality-of-life in the beachfront town of Jupiter. Candidates should forward their CV and contact information for three references to curesearch@scripps.edu.

Physical Requirements:
This position works in a laboratory or vivarium environment. Further details of the physical requirements of established essential functions for this position will be addressed/discussed during the interview process.

Basic Qualifications:
Must possess a doctoral degree. A pending doctoral degree may be considered with approval of the Principal Investigator.  Familiarity with HIV biology and non-human primate studies. Ph.D., D.V.M. or equivalent
