Community Engagement and Resource Room Intern

This is a virtual internship for the summer of 2021. The Office of Faith-based and Community Engagement (FBCE) with the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services partners with foundations, advocates and volunteers to improve service delivery for children, families and adults whom we serve.

Our team helps recruit, train and retain thousands of volunteers; hosts forums to receive public input; communicates important agency news through a quarterly newsletter; hosts monthly nonprofit lunch and learns; organizes multiple public awareness events; and builds strategic alliances with community partners to support the needs of children, families, the elderly and people with disabilities.

The Community Engagement and Resource Room intern will develop a toolkit document and Power Point presentation that will be used to train and support hundreds of emergency resource room volunteers. The intern will create a presentation about the project that will be given to the entire team about this new toolkit.

The intern will gain experience in research and communication development and will gain knowledge on the child welfare system. The intern will be supervised by the FBCE specialist and are expected to volunteer 10-15 hours per week.
