Assessment Summer 2021 Hourly Graduate Assistant

The School of Undergraduate Studies (UGS) oversees the components of a college education that are shared by all undergraduates at the university. The mission of the school comprises preparing students for lives of accomplishment through a dynamic common curriculum and a strategic community of programs and initiatives designed to help them make the most of their academic experiences. Assessment efforts in UGS seek to understand how our programs promote student learning and effective teaching. We emphasize using results to initiate program improvement by providing assessment data that are timely, specific, and relevant to a variety of audiences, including faculty, staff, students, campus leaders, and accrediting organizations. www.ugs.utexas.edu
 
Position Description: To support the UGS Assessment Office with program and curriculum assessment, data analysis, and research efforts. Key responsibilities will include:
·      Conducting literature reviews related to applied research in higher education
·      Reviewing existing assessment strategies
·      Assisting with data collection, analysis, and reporting for UGS programs
·      Applying data visualization techniques for assessment reports and presentations
·      Producing written reports
 
Required Qualifications: Current graduate student (master’s or doctoral) in good academic standing.

Must be enrolled in summer courses.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
·      Knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research design and analysis methods
·      Knowledge of higher education philosophy and university mission
·      Knowledge of higher education policy
·      Skills in gathering, assembling, correlating, and analyzing facts to devise solutions to problems
·      Skills in analytical thinking, interpersonal and leadership skills, and professional writing
·      Skills in using personal computers and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Microsoft Word, Excel, statistical software, Qualtrics, Canvas, and BOX 
·      Skills in maintaining and analyzing data, including the use of SPSS
·      Skill in developing presentations, reports, and other documents
·      Ability to follow instructions, self-motivate, and manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines
·      Ability to present data and reports to internal and external stakeholders
·      Ability to communicate in oral and written form to effectively communicate to a wide range of individuals
·      Ability to demonstrate flexibility and adaptability toward changes in assignments and workload
·      Ability to work under pressure, meet objectives, and successfully meet periodic, milestone, and final deadlines
 
Office Location: Remote work, unless university resumes normal operations. Main Building when normal operations resume.
 
Working Conditions: Exposure to standard office conditions, climbing of stairs, lifting and moving up to 50 lbs., use of manual dexterity, repetitive use of keyboard at workstation, and working in a shared office space.
