Applied Research Associates, Inc. (ARA) is seeking professionals for an exciting opportunity as a Purchasing Assistant with our IT Department which provides tier 1, tier 2 and tier 3 level support to several divisions within ARA. Our team is also responsible for local IT support of approximately 500 users including software developers and engineers, in addition to providing secure computing support directly to government contracts.Our IT support staff are valued members of the team tasked with work that is critical to the success of our projects.
 
The successful applicant will performs various routine purchasing duties such as checking deliveries of material ordered and coordinating return of incorrect material. May work with pricing agent to develop and obtain prices and tracking of shipments. Maintains records and files pertinent to purchasing information. Ensures thorough and comprehensive file documentation of purchase orders to provide an audit trail of transactions. May compile, record, and track pertinent purchasing data on computer. Other day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • Completing accounting paperwork for purchases
  • Data entry (e.g., purchase orders, inventory)
  • Assist with labeling equipment for inventory
  • Contacting vendors for quotes, establishing terms, obtaining vendor accounting information
  • Processing incoming shipments
  • Navigate JIRA Service Desk (our ticketing system)

Purchasing Assistant Required Skills & Experience:
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 1 – 2 years related experience
  • Strong oral & written communication skills
  • Excel as a team player and strive to maximize team & department performance

Purchasing Assistant Position Preferences:
  • Associate’s degree; 3.0 GPA or better
  • Self-directed, detail oriented, problem solver
