Summer Public Speaking, Debate Instructor

We are a Northwest Austin Learning Center which provides youth language learning, academic enrichment and a variety of other classes. We are seeking an enthusiastic, talented, and responsible instructor to teach elementary to middle school level debate/public speaking in our school year enrichment program. .Undergraduate students with experience are strongly encouraged to apply for this instructor position. Succeed Roles and Responsibilities
  • Create class teaching material, lessons, readings, homework, etc. for the class you'll be assigned to teach
  • Work with ACES to develop a standardized Speech & Debate curriculum appropriate to our middle school aged children
  • preparation of homework
  • Monitor students’ progress using written notes
  • Communicate with parents regarding student progress
  • Grade student assignments in a timely manner
  • Establish a learning environment that is conductive to learning
  • Maintain classroom cleanliness and organization
Qualifications:
  • Student working toward a degree preferred
  • Capable to teach a wide range of elementary to middle school level students
  • Detail oriented, organized, responsible, patient, and punctual
  • Excellent oral communication skills
  • Experience in Speech & Debate (e.g. significant competition experience or some coaching experience through summer camps, school year instruction, etc.)
