Protect Our Vote Student Internship

Public Citizen: Protect Democracy Student Internship

Stand Up for Voting Rights & Secure Elections

Fall Semester:

Democracy in the United States is under systematic attack – big money raised in secret undermines the voice of the people in our elections, voting rights are being undermined and the security of our elections is threatened. Join the Democracy Is For People team in mobilizing the power of the people to combat threats and defend our democracy.

Currently, Public Citizen is engaged in a robust campaign to protect our vote in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic by securing resources to implement safe options for voters to cast their ballot, including enacting vote-by-mail and early voting at the national and state level.

We are looking for a few amazing interns to join us at least 12 hours per week during this fall.

You’ve heard that corporations have lobbyists. At Public Citizen, we’re the people’s lobbyists, representing the public in the halls of power. We fight for public health and safety, champion corporate and government accountability, and campaign for fair trade, clean energy, and consumer rights.

The Democracy Is For People Campaign has an office in Syracuse, New York and Washington D.C. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, internships will be remote.

Responsibilities:

In this role, you will be working with Public Citizen staff to build a campaign to engage students in the fight to ensure that our elections are safe and fair this November. You will:
  • Help design a campaign plan for student organizing work
  • Build student coalitions and grassroots student engagement
  • Take part in strategy conversations for our nation- wide student organizing program
  • Lead volunteers and coalition members in campaign actions
  • Help build a robust poll worker/ election protection recruitment program
  • Participate in trainings
We are looking for folks who are passionate about voting rights and election security, and who are excited to help build a movement of students who are engaging in this work at this critical moment!!

This is your chance to truly play an active role in making an impact in our nation’s history.
