Tribal Technical Assistance Center (TTAC) Program Director

Tribal Technical Assistance Center (TTAC) Program Director
Great Lakes Inter-Tribal Council (GLITC) Tribal Technical Assistance Center (TTAC) Program Director is involved in wide variety of activities in support of Tribal Aging Unit programs including, quality improvement of aging services, technical assistance related to requirements of Older Americans Act (OAA) and the Wisconsin Elders Act (WEA), individual and organizational advocacy, planning for new services, and promotion of existing services and assurance of service quality. In addition, the Program Director is expected to maintain a broad network of Tribal community relationships to promote agency visibility and help achieve agency goals. Daily attendance is an essential function of this position. Frequent travel is required.
Principal Duties
  • The Tribal Technical Assistance Center Program Director has overall responsibility for development and assistance of the contract with Greater Wisconsin Agency on Aging Resources (GWAAR) for the operation of the Tribal Technical Assistance Center.
  • Maintain understanding of current policies and procedures related to aging programs, including how these policies and procedures directly affect services to older adults through Title III and Title VI of the Older Americans Act and the Wisconsin Elders Act.
  • Be a resource to all WI Aging Units to coordinate services between statewide OAA & WEA Title III programs, the Area Agency on Aging (GWAAR), and Title VI programming.
  • Provide help and advice to Tribal Aging Units regarding specialized subject matter and systems that support the OAA programs. Specifically, this includes WEA by reviewing Tribal annual Program Status Updates, Tribal Aging Plans, budgets, amendments, corrective action plans, and triennial Nutrition Assessments.
  • Coordinate and facilitate evidence-based health promotion curricula as the GLITC Program Provider registered with WIHA providing workshops to tribal communities for Title III-D funding and participate on the Evidence-Based Health Promotions Steering Committee.
  • Plan and facilitate effective meetings with customers and stakeholders, specifically the Tribal Aging Unit Association and GWAAR ACE Meetings.
  • Present ideas and concepts orally and in writing to governmental policy and advisory boards or committees to advance the mission of the GLITC TTAC.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with Tribal Aging Unit staff, advisory boards, and elected officials.
  • Assist Tribal Aging Units and individuals to manage change in response to changing needs of customers and identification of unmet needs of the Tribal Elders and the Aging Network.
  • Plan and implement rapid cycle improvement projects designed to improve processes or services to consumers, expand business acumen, as well as integrate tribal services provided by Tribal Aging Units.
  • Work effectively as team member to accomplish TTAC & GWAAR three-year plan goals and GWAAR and GLITC agency projects. Upon request, assist other TTAC & GWAAR teams in accomplishing project goals as outlined in Area Agency on Aging three-year plan.
  • Frequent travel to satellite offices, Tribal communities, and conferences is required.
This is a full-time opportunity working Mon-Fri 40 - 45 hours per week and a work location in Lac Du Flambeau, WI. Frequent travel is required. This position has a salary range of $50,000 - $55,000 annually (based on education and experience) with benefits including Annual/Personal Leave, Holiday Pay, Health, Dental, Life, STD and LTD Insurance, FSA and 401(k) Retirement Plan. 
Qualifications: Any equivalent combination of experience and education that would provide the required knowledge, will be considered as meeting the qualifications. Required: Bachelor’s degree from accredited college or university with a major in arts or science degree with a focus on social work, sociology, human services or equivalent. Five to seven years’ work experience in a human services environment, preferably with seniors or people with disabilities or an acceptable combination of education and experience. Three to five years of supervisory experience. Preferred: Experience managing and directing a diverse group of human services programs and professionals. Experience in advocating for change in policy or programs related to better meeting the needs of older people and working knowledge of long-term care (LTC). Experience with a Native American Tribal organization and knowledge of tribal and federal roles and relations. Individual must possess: excellent verbal and written communication skills; professional demeanor and appearance; problem solving skills; ability to manage time effectively; self-motivation skills; work effectively under pressure; ability to build positive work relationships with internal and external customers; ability to interact professionally with a wide variety of people. Must be well organized and demonstrate initiative. Must be able to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and interact in a positive manner with others to accomplish tasks. Must have knowledge of correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation and be able to follow routine instructions. Must be able to perform basic math functions (add, subtract, multiply, divide). Must possess valid driver’s license and/or reliable transportation with adequate insurance and ability to travel frequently.
