CitySquare Food Mobile Meals Van Support AmeriCorps Member

AmeriCorps is a national community service program that allows thousands of Americans to give back to their community and get paid to do it!

CitySquare’s Child Nutrition program provides free nutritious meals to children after school and during summer. CitySquare Food Mobile delivers safe, healthy meals to kids in non-traditional sites such as apartment complexes, reaching children whose families face transportation, economic, and other barriers to access traditional food programs. To answer the increased need for support due to the COVID-19 pandemic, CitySquare Food Mobile is expanding to serve throughout the school year. Filling the nutrition gap kids and teens experience without school meals is more important than ever. Join us to help make a difference!

Primary Duties:

The CitySquare Food Mobile Van Support AmeriCorps member will serve with CitySquare Food Mobile to distribute free afterschool meals to youth in low-income communities. As a CitySquare Food Mobile Van Support team member, you will have the opportunity to make an impact in children’s lives and grow personally and professionally.

Specific duties include:
  • Serve no-cost meals to kids and teens while ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations
  • Engage children in physical and educational enrichment programming
  • Build relationships with children, families, staff, and community to promote program engagement
  • Load and unload your van at CitySquare’s main campus, the Opportunity Center, and at each site

Benefits of becoming a CitySquare AmeriCorps Member:
  • Members receive a $2,300 living allowance (broken down and paid in biweekly installments during the term)
  • Members receive a $1,311.11 education award at the end of their term (can be used for tuition or student loans)

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Available from September 1, 2020 – December 18, 2020
  • Available 25 hours per week, Monday to Friday from 2 to 7 p.m.
  • High School Graduate (17 or older)
  • U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident (Deferred action and temporary permanent resident do not qualify)
  • Able to access reliable transportation
  • Able to pass a criminal background check

This service opportunity is highly interpersonal and requires that members serve well with others. Members must be able to accommodate changing service conditions and diverse points of view.
