Smart Buildings Program Specialist
The Facilities Management and Services Programs Division (FMSPD) oversees regional programs related to the management and operation of space under the jurisdiction, custody or control of the Public Buildings Service (PBS). Taking its direction from GSA Central Office program offices, FMSPD provides guidance to the region's service centers and other organizations. There mission is to provide program management, support and guidance to our property managers in an effort to provide a safe, effective, healthy and efficient work environment for our customers.
You will serve as the regional program expert for the Smart and Sustainable Buildings (SSB) Program and primary liaison with Central Office program counterparts. The Specialist oversees region wide SSB initiatives, which includes the aggregation and systematization of current building system technologies for present and future uses in the most efficient manner. Incumbent is responsible for advocating, communicating, educating and coordinating SSB program initiatives throughout the region while ensuring compliance with national program standards.
As a Smart Buildings Program Specialist, you will perform the following duties.
- Oversees the implementation of new building technologies, including Building Automated Systems (BAS) used in construction, modernization, and reprogramming of existing systems throughout the region to ensure compliance with the national program goals and changing information technology.
- Provides critical analysis of pressing issues and required policy recommendations used by management to formulate decision regarding changing responsibilities or business needs, as well as in the design/development and evaluation of ongoing and/or new program issues.
- Uses advanced project management and communication skills to coordinate efforts between building management personnel, regional program managers responsible for sustainability, energy usage, design and construction, as well as a variety of contractor personnel.
- Communicates with customers regularly, effectively, and proactively to ensure end product/service meets customer’s expectations.
