2020 Fall After-school online elementary math instructor





Job Description


ACES Learning Center is a northwest Austin learning center which provides curricula that will develop critical thinkers with a strong academic foundation for success.

We are looking for elementary math instructors for our 2020 fall elementary math online courses. Your students will be bright K-5 graders who love math and are willing to learn fundamental concepts of the grade level math as well as challenge math problems.  The objective of the math courses is to build solid grade level math foundation and meanwhile inspire students’ love and passion for math, help them realize math’s beauty, and understand that the process of learning math is fun and interesting.

Job duties include:
·      teaching students math concepts, problems, and strategies online
·      creating course content and homework for the class based on teaching materials we provide
·      managing a classroom of students 
·      being on time for every assigned class
·      grading student home works
·      managing google classroom and answering student questions
 
The online math courses will be M-F from 08/24/2020 to 12/18/2020 with the following daily schedule:

2:10pm – 2:55pm or
4:25pm - 5:10pm

Depending on your availability, you could teach one of the time blocks or both time blocks. For the same grade level math classes, the second block covers the same materials and the same curriculum as the first time block with different students.
 



Qualifications:


Successful candidates will have the following:

  • · You are passionate about helping young and bright students achieve their goals. You enjoy motivating, teaching, and coaching students and seeing their progress and achievements.

  • · You should be graduate or undergraduate students majoring in math, science or engineering with strong math training and teaching experience.

  • · Previous math competition experience in MathCounts, AMC8/AMC10/AMC12 and AIME is a plus.

  • · Ability to keep a classroom full of students engaged in the learning process. In other words, you must have strong communications skills.

  • · Must be able to pass a background check.

  • · Must be family with zoom platform.
