Communications Specialist

Communications interns will be part of daily conversations surrounding the Salient's podcast, Personal Privilege, video productions, traditional and digital media reach, and general Salient communications activities. They will have the opportunity to learn first-hand how our marketing and digital campaigns work to expand our beliefs and work to deliver high-quality results on behalf of our diverse client's. Interns will work with our Senior Partner's to track analytics, update the website, monitor social media, and make recommendations for expanding our online community. They will also have the opportunity to network with media professionals, attend staff meetings, and participate in premier Salient events. Interning with the Salient executive team is a way to learn, expand one’s knowledge of local policies and governance, and make lasting relationships, while advance your professional goals and skill set.

Responsibilities for Social Media Intern

  • Work alongside the team to create a plan for social media strategies monthly
  • Assist in the growth of the brand by raising awareness through various social media platforms
  • Monitor postings to ensure brand message is constant from the terminology used to images posted
  • Aid in the daily aspects of promoting the businesses and our client's campaigns
  • Interact with followers and potential customers by communicating and answering questions through the company's social pages
  • Assist in implementing plans to increase followers on popular social media websites such as Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and LinkedIn
  • Oversee the creating and implementation of a weekly newsletter editorial, GroundGame
  • Help create content as dictated by the monthly editorial calendar to promote lead gen, blogs and client success stories

Qualifications for Communications Specialist

  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, journalism, public relations or related field
  • 1-2 years of social media management experience
  • Professional certification in Google Analytics strongly preferred
  • Familiar with multi-social posting through programs such as Hootsuite and HubSpot
  • Comfortable with working with Microsoft Office and Adobe Suites
  • General knowledge of Search Engine Optimization and internet ranking for web content
  • Entry level experience determining how to cater unique marketing campaigns to a unique audience
  • Ability work alongside a diverse group of employees and simultaneously work toward many company initiatives at once
  • Entry level understanding of marketing strategy and how to use the concepts throughout various forms of outreach
  • Preferred* topical understanding/assessment of Texas political spectrum
