Youth and Children Program Internship

Youth and Children Program Internship 
The Buckner Family Hope Center is a community-based place of hope where families go to find strength and empowerment to reach their fullest God-given potential. The key to the Family Hope Center is the passion-driven staff and volunteers who devote themselves to walking alongside families through trials and struggles and ultimately towards success as defined by that family. This internship will focus on helping Buckner's Family Hope Center by assisting with life skills classes, mentoring programs, youth events by helping plan and execute these programs. This intern will be directly supervised by the West Dallas Youth and Children Specialist.

Basic Functions:
This internship will take place at Buckner's Family Hope Center in West Dallas (2303 Bickers Street). We are looking for passionate and dedicated interns to help us in the following ways:
  • Provide childcare for youth, children, toddlers, and babies
  • Assist in administrative tasks
  • Facilitate classes for youth and children
  • Planning and executing activities for youth and children
  • Mentoring for youth and children
  • Provide tutoring and homework help
  • Event planning and execution
  • Remaining flexible and willing to perform a variety of tasks with the team

Objectives:
  1. Assist with Life Skills Fall Program
  2. Assist with Youth Mentoring Groups        
  3. Assist with Youth Event & Giveaways
  4. Assist with family follow ups regarding enrolled programs & events

Qualifications:
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish strongly preferred.
  • Must be able to commit to working 7-10 hours per week on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
  • Times and days that must be available are Wednesdays from 5:30-7:00pm and Thursday 6:00-7:00pm.
  • Must be comfortable working with children and youth of various ages, socioeconomic backgrounds, cultures, and religious beliefs.
  • Must be able to give clear written and verbal instructions to people.
  • Experience leading a class of youth strongly preferred.
  • Must be servant-hearted and passionate to learn!
