Technical Assistance Coach (TAP-in)

CAI, a training, technical assistance and research-to-practice nonprofit organization, is seeking a highly motivated professional for the full-time position of Technical Assistance Coach to work with CAI’s Technical Assistance Provider – innovation network (TAP-in). The position can be based in CAI’s NYC or satellite offices or be remote.
 
GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES
The TAP-in provides cross-cutting and tailored technical assistance (TA) to 47 jurisdictions (i.e., health departments) across the nation who are funded by the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program (RWHAP) to design and implement locally tailored plans to improve access to treatment, foster retention in services, and achieve durable viral suppression for people living with HIV as part of the nation’s plan to End the HIV Epidemic (EHE). The TA Coach reports to the TAP-in Regional TA Lead and, using a practice facilitation coaching model and phased implementation approach, is responsible for working with a team of experts to provide and/or coordinate the provision of tailored TA for up to 8 RWHAP jurisdictions to foster strengthening and implementation of their local EHE plans. Key activities are summarized below.
 
MAJOR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES (include, but are not limited to):
·        Establish mutually agreed upon jurisdiction-specific TA plan and update annually
·        Identify, engage, and coordinate partner resources to support implementation of the TA plan
·        Provide pro-active and regularly scheduled coaching, grounded in process and outcome data, to foster implementation of the agreed upon TA plan
·        In collaboration with TAP-in Research and Evaluation Lead and TAP-in partners, support jurisdictions in establishing data dashboards and systems to collect and use data to monitor progress in implementation and impact of jurisdiction EHE plans
·        Plan and convene annual site visits with each assigned jurisdiction
·        Document all TA encounters and activities and participate, as needed, in reporting
·        Administer formal mid-course (Year 3) assessment of assigned jurisdictions to assess progress in implementation of EHE plan and adapt TAP plan and approach based on findings
·        On a continuous basis, share with CAI TAP-in leadership and the Regional TA Leads key observations from their communications and activities with the jurisdictions to inform the TAP-IN CQI process
·        In addition to providing direct TA, the TA Coach will facilitate linkage to jurisdictions to:
o  Existing resources to support implementation of plans
o  Expert TAP-in TA pool to provide individualized and specialized TA
o  Opportunities to participate in TAP-in learning communities, webinars, peer-to-peer support, and to TAP-in resources
o  Opportunities to disseminate their successes and lessons learned broadly
·        Working with the TA providers/partners, other TAP-in staff and jurisdictions, support a feedback process on the provision of TA
·        Participate in development/training opportunities to build capacity to implement the practice facilitation coaching model

MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND OTHER REQUIRED SKILLS:
This is an advanced level position that requires expertise in HIV and/or mental health, as well as experience providing technical assistance in a public health arena. Summary of requirements is provided below.
·        Master’s degree in related field, or equivalent professional experience
·        Knowledgeable and skilled in delivering coaching to adults in a professional environment
·        Minimum of 2 years of experience providing technical assistance in a public health arena
·        Strong training and presentation skills
·        Adaptability and flexibility in approach to training and technical assistance techniques
·        Experience and/or knowledgeable about coaching staff to achieve performance improvement
·        Experience training multidisciplinary staff who work in a health care setting
·        Ability to work both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team, in a fast-paced environment
·        Detail oriented, highly organized, and able to multi-task/manage multiple projects
·        Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
