Great Lakes Inter-Tribal Council is a non-profit organization formed by the Native American Tribes of Wisconsin. We serve all WI tribes by providing administration of grant-funded programs either directly or with sub grants. Program Director/Executive Director
This position will work directly with the Great Lakes Area Tribal Health Board (GLATHB) and supports initiatives and activities aimed at improving Health environments. This position will assist the board in building leadership capacity throughout the Indian Health Service (IHS) Bemidji Area to more effectively address health concerns through policy, systems and environmental changes. Working as a member of the program administrative team, this role will use advanced analytical, research, project management and relationship management skills to deliver on priority work plan activities including program assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation. Daily attendance is an essential function of this position. Frequent travel is required.
Principal Duties:
·        Organize and coordinate the planning, implementation, and evaluation of all Board activities and events.
·        Communicate with GLATHB Chairperson on a regular basis, including a weekly telephone call.
·        Provide monthly written report to all GLATHB members.
·        Support communications through conference calls, meetings, written briefs, publications, events, newsletters and website features.
·        Develop and maintain partnerships with governments, communities and organizations though out the Bemidji Area to ensure effective communication flow and dialogue between all partners.
·        Contribute to ongoing strategic planning, budgeting and program support to ensure the successful development and implementation of projects and programs.
·        Assist the GLATHB on operationalizing the current strategic plan and coordinating the necessary steps to reach a 501c3 status (or similar) within two (2) years of hire.
·        Gather, analyze and prepare clinical and public health policy, systems and environmental change recommendations.
·        Develop and implement accurate reporting mechanisms that measure the efficacy of previous and current programs, strategies and initiatives and inform ongoing improvements.
·        Conduct or oversee environmental scans, trends data analyses, data management and quantitative and qualitative research.
·        Work with program staff to plan program events, meetings, trainings, conferences, conference calls and webinars.
·        Assist participating tribes in strategic planning, assessment implementation and evaluation of activities and strategies.
·        Engage Tribal leaders in promoting culturally adapted evidence-based practices to address chronic disease risk.
·        Actively participate in task teams, working groups, and other joint policy and program initiatives.
·        Oversee contracting with Tribal sub-awardees and others as needed to perform program activities.
·        Prepare, review and forward reports according to CDC requirements.
This is a full-time opportunity working Mon-Fri 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM 40 - 45 hours per week with a work location in Lac Du Flambeau, WI. Frequent travel may be required. This position has a starting salary of $65,000 to $70,000 per year with benefits including Annual/Personal Leave, Holiday Pay, Health, Dental, Life & AD&D, STD and LTD Insurance, FSA and 401(k) Retirement Plan. 
Background check and drug screen are required prior to employment. Due to COVID-19, relocating hires may be subject to a 14 day self-isolation period before starting work in the office building.
Qualifications: An equivalent combination of experience and education that would provide the required knowledge and abilities may be considered. Required: Master of Public Health (MPH) or Master of Science (MS) in Epidemiology or related health field or master’s in public administration, public policy or public affairs with emphasis in policy. Additionally, applicant should have two to five years’ related experience and or training and program management experience. Preferred: Experience working with a Native American Tribal organization and/or not-for-profit agency and knowledge of Tribal policy development. Individual must possess: excellent verbal and written communication skills; professional demeanor and appearance; problem solving skills; ability to manage time effectively; self-motivation skills; work effectively under pressure; ability to build positive work relationships with internal and external customers; ability to interact professionally with a wide variety of people; speak in front of groups. Individual must be able to address a wide range of intellectual and practical problems and the ability to compose complex business correspondence (reports, briefs, papers). Must follow strict confidentiality and data protection policies. Must possess valid driver’s license and/or reliable transportation with adequate insurance and ability to travel.
