STUDENT ENGINEER - STUDENT SCIENTIST - GRADUATE STUDENT-R&D - FIRE TECHNOLOGY

Job Summary:

Join our Fire Technology team as an Intern. Carry out numerical simulations of engineering challenges using COMSOL Multiphysics. Assist in writing technical and analytical procedures, pre-test checklists, and develop inventory of testing equipment. Assist program managers in the performance of routine engineering and/or scientific investigations requiring application of standard fire testing techniques and procedures. Analyze, interpret, and report test results using standardized formats. Demonstrate proficiency in written and verbal communication and in the use of computer software and hardware typically used in the field of fire research and testing. Troubleshoot and make minor repairs on test equipment. Assignments will frequently be in moderate to high temperatures and smoky environment.


Education/Experience:

Must be pursuing a BS or Graduate degree in mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, civil engineering, fire protection engineering, construction engineering, chemistry or closely related. Must have at least a 3.0 GPA. Strong communication skills are required. Must be hands-on, organized, and willing to work in extreme temperatures and dusty conditions. Chemistry laboratory skills are highly preferred. Must be able to work in a team environment, be collaborative and have a high attention to detail. The ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while meeting deadlines is required. Must be able to operate computer tools that includes Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Experience with COMSOL Multiphysics modeling, LabVIEW, and SoildWorks is a plus. Must be willing and able to travel to remote test site occasionally. Must be able to wear a respirator. A valid/clear driver's license is required.

Must be a U.S. citizen or Permanent Resident due to ITAR work in section.
