Writing and Research Intern
Peacefully.com is a startup devoted to simplifying end-of-life tasks for individuals who have recently experienced the loss of a loved one, or are preparing for end-of-life themselves.
We are looking for writing interns to work remotely covering topics related to end-of-life: from how to talk to your parents about estate-planning decisions, to what Medicaid spend downs are, to the best books to read on the subject of grief.
Responsibilities include:
- Generating and making pitches
- Writing posts on a range of subjects
- Researching and fact-checking
- Copy editing and proofreading existing content
You will report to the Head of Content/Lead Editor and work remotely as part of a small team, with flexible hours. Your workload would strike an equal balance between instructional how-to’s and longform articles that touch on the more empathic/human interest angles of this rich and weighty field.
Writers who are ideal for this position are:
- Flexible and prolific, with proven experience writing on mature and sensitive topics
- Looking to grow their portfolio in medical, health, legal, or financial writing
- Love researching and getting nerdy about the healthcare/financial world
Candidates with some background in medicine, elder care/gerontology, finance, law, or related fields, as well as writers from historically underrepresented backgrounds, are preferred, but not required.
If interested, please submit your resume and a short cover letter describing your background, both academic and personal, as well as what drew you to applying. If we agree, you can expect to submit a few samples of your work.
