Side by Side Kids – After-school Program Coordinator (Part-Time)

Job Description

Job Title: Side by Side Kids – After-school Program Coordinator (Part-Time)


Purpose of the Position:  The After-school Program Coordinator is responsible for supporting the After-school Program Director in overseeing the implementation and daily operations of the Side by Side Kids After-school Program, maintaining relationships, coordinating with other team members to secure resources that benefit the Side by Side Kids After-school Program, and executing annual events related to Side by Side Kids and its supporters.
 
Job Summary: 
  • Design and implement improvements to SBSK in the interest of enhancing the spiritual, educational and emotional lives of the youth being served
  • Provide hands-on oversight and immediate supervision to the SBSK After-school Youth Development Leaders at designated schools
  • Assist SBSK Program Director with data collection, program evaluation, and management
  • Assess and mitigate risk associated with After-school Programming through supporting appropriate SBSK policies and ensuring risk management procedures are being followed
  • Ensure that each campus is actively recruiting students for a full program and maintains enrollment at 90-100% capacity at all times
  • Ensure that each campus maintains an active student enrollment wait-list
  • Able to be accountable to all responsibilities of their position, including, but not limited to staff training, student recruitment, data management, etc.
  • Meet with AISD principals and school administrators as needed and keep SBSK After-school Program Director informed
  • Ensure the quality of the SBSK After-school Program by being present on campus at least twice per week
  • Assist in the daily operations of the SBSK After-school Program as needed
  • Recruit, interview, train, supervise, and evaluate SBSK After-school Youth Development Leaders as needed
  • Review payroll hours for SBSK After-school staff and approve on a weekly basis
  • Assist SBSK After-school Program Director with creating and implementing staff training
  • Coordinate with the SBSK After-school Program Director to provide mid-semester reviews, as well as annual performance evaluations for SBSK After-school Youth Development Leaders
  • Create and implement avenues of seamless communication between the SBSK After-school Programs, staff, and the families being served
  • Provide the SBSK After-school Program Director a weekly report regarding After-school Program updates and meet on a regular basis to discuss programming issues and needs
  • Serve as a liaison by facilitating communication between SBSK, A.I.S.D staff, and other necessary parties
  • Coordinate regularly with other SBSK team members to plan and execute various events
  • Support volunteers sponsoring major SBSK events and/or serving on-campus during the after-school program and supervise volunteers as needed
  • Meet with the Volunteer Department on a regular basis to discuss upcoming events and resources
  • Report any suspected abuse or neglect of SBSK students to a supervisor and the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services hotline at 1-800-252-5400 or https://www.dfps.state.tx.us/contact_us/report_abuse.asp
  • All other related duties assigned
 
Time Involvement Required: This position is a part-time, hourly position. A maximum of 32 hours of work hours are required per week. Hours will flex to accommodate some morning, evening, and weekend activities.
 
Work Location: The After-school Program Coordinator will report to the SBSK Support Center, the assigned elementary schools, and various sites within the community.  Those sites are:
  • J.J Pickle Elementary – 1101 Wheatley Ave, Austin, TX 78752
  • T.A. Brown Elementary – 7801 Guadalupe, Austin, TX 78752
  • Houston Elementary - 5409 Ponciana Drive, Austin, TX 78744
 
 
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Experience working with children and/or youth in a school setting, after-school program, or mentoring program
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Familiarity with Google Drive, Google Docs, Google Sheets and Google Calendar
  • Ability to move around a classroom with ease and be accessible to students
  • Ability to bend, reach, or stretch for supplies and/or other various objects, as well as lift, carry, and move at least 40 pounds
  • Strong people and project management skills
  • Exceptional communication skills
  • Ability to supervise, problem solve, and make sound decisions
  • Comfortable speaking and presentation style
  • Ability to accept constructive feedback
  • High level of professionalism and strong organization skills
  • Reliable transportation

Educational Qualifications:
  • Associates and/or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Additional Qualifications:
  • Be a Christ-follower and communing member of the body of Christ
  • Basic or greater Spanish language skills preferred
  • Understand, agree, and promote SBSK values (found at http://www.sidebysidekids.org/our-mission)
  • Understand, agree with, and be comfortable teaching a Christ-centered curriculum that communicates the Gospel on a daily basis
