Development Assistant

Development Assistant 
The Development Assistant manages online giving, donor data, grant writing, research, etc. and assists in other development capacities. The Development Assistant directly reports to the Development and Special Events Manager. 
 
Strategic Responsibilities 
 
Grant Writing 
  • Assists Development and Special Events Manager in grant research and writing. 
  • Manages grant tracking related to corporate, foundational, individual, and planned giving, and special campaigns. 
  • Updates internal Status Report with all grant submissions and results.  
  • Manages grant calendar, to include submissions, etc. 
  • Assists in writing high-quality grant proposal narratives, applications, and supporting documents. 
  • Works with entire staff to compile financials and data required for grant submissions. 
  • Assists with the proposal submission process to ensure timely submission of all required materials. 
  • Coordinates and follows-up on the progress of submitted proposals. 
 
Development 
  • Works with Director of Communications to manage website donor page. 
  • Manages comprehensive catalog of prospective donors based on specific categories. 
  • Manages the donor database and data entry/gift processing procedures. 
  • Manages process of opening and closing new donor relationships by sending appropriate correspondence to new supporters. 
  • Coordinates the appropriate correspondence for donors weekly (ie., thank you notes, special requests, etc.). 
  • Works with Director of Communications and Development and Special Events Manager to manage social media campaigns and special online fundraising initiatives, such as North Texas Giving Day. 
  • Assists Development and Special Events Manager in preparing monthly reports for the Development Director by tracking projections, progress, and budget management related to fundraising and grant submissions.  
  • Assists Development and Special Events Manager in partnering with the Development Committee by preparing for and attending monthly meetings and recording minutes.   
  • Manages preparation of toolkits and marketing materials for development related activities. 
  • Manages Development Calendar as it pertains to site visits, direct donor interactions, donor meetings, Capital Campaigns, Development Committee meetings, special events, and other items pertinent to the Development Team. 
  • Manages scheduling appointments pertaining to Development-related activities for Executive Director and Development Director. 
  • Coordinates and schedules donor site visits and assists Director of Development in donor interactions, such as lunches, presentations, etc. 
  • Serves as a representative of The Magdalen House, by screening phone calls and directing them to the appropriate person within both the Development Team and among other departments. 
 
Special Events 
  • Assist Development and Special Events Manager with the planning and execution of all special events/activities. 
  • Assist Development and Special Events Manager with invitations, tracking RSVPs, signage, etc.
