Responsibilities:

Works with customers and account managers to collect balances and invoices; as well as with producers to ensure expense reports are accurate
Responsible for carrier and vendor payables and accounts receivable
Backs up payroll administrator
Codes and enters payroll journal entries
Sets up carriers within the Agency Management System
Issues client refunds
Verifies invoices by ensuring transactions comply with accounting policies and procedure
Assists in improving efficiencies in payment processing to alleviate late submissions, retro adjustments, and off-cycle manual check requests
Initiates, obtains approval, and submits wire transfers
Generates and reviews scheduled and ad-hoc reports as requested
Prepares and makes bank deposits and completes bank reconciliation
Ensures compliance with internal accounting procedures
Maintains accurate records, including ledgers, journals, receipts, and invoices
Prepares and issues 1099’s at year-end
Performs administrative tasks when needed


Job Requirements:

High school diploma required; degree from a two-year or four-year college preferred; minimum of one to three years of related experience and /or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Conceptual understanding of accounting principles and ability to apply them
Intermediate to Advanced MS Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint; Word) skills
Insurance Agency Management System experience preferred but not required
A self-starter who can work in a team environment
Must exhibit problem solving and critical thinking skills
