Social Work and Community Studies Intern

The Social Work and Community Studies Intern, in collaboration with the Executive Director and Communications Director, researches and helps organize and execute local programming that centers around the social emotional needs of local families and kids born with cleft lip/palate. In addition, this position will help organize and expand our international programming, providing surgical care to children born with cleft lip/palate in Latin America. This internship will help manage our local and global impact growth on behalf of the organization, to include building community relationships, program evaluation, as well as grant research/writing. He or she also, under the guidance and approval of the Communications Director, manages communication with local and international volunteers, local programming newsletters and flyers, as well as working to expand Austin Smiles connections with Dell Children’s Craniofacial and Reconstructive Center and other community providers.
Specific Social Work and Community Studies Intern Responsibilities:
·     Help Austin Smiles move towards patient centered, culturally competent language and programming
·     Work with Executive Director to create strategic Social Work and Community Studies plan
·     Research new and maintain existing corporate/foundation/grant opportunities for local programming
