Senior Talent Associate

Venture For America is currently seeking a logistical powerhouse to join our Talent team – which does all the recruitment, selection, and onboarding for the fellowship. Last year, Venture For America generated over 3,000 applications for a class of approximately 200 Fellows.
The Senior Talent Associate will have several core functions that will vary during the recruitment season (August-March) and off-season (April - July). First, you will source potential candidates from a variety of platforms. Second, you will ensure data accuracy and clear applicant communication throughout our selection process. Third, you will inspire them to join our mission and address concerns they have about our program by representing VFA virtually and in person once it is safe to do. 
What you’ll do:
Drive recruitment activities (August - March)
  • Identify & source candidates (40%)
  • Use various job boards (e.g., LinkedIn, Idealist) and virtual platforms (e.g., Handshake, RippleMatch, Jopwell, and LinkedIn) to source diverse candidates
  • Lead the execution of our candidate referral program, where you will mobilize current Fellows, Venture For America alums and team members to spread the word 
  • Engage with stakeholders - professors, student leaders, prospective applicants and prospective partners - to drive interest in Venture For America’s mission
  • Lead webinars & recruiting events, driving attendance and following up with attendees afterwards
  • Cultivate candidates (30%)
  • Act as a main point of contact for a pipeline of applicants, mentoring them through the application process.
  • Execute an inclusive recruitment process so that candidates accepted to VFA choose to matriculate
  • Select Candidates (20%)
  • Participate in Venture For America selection events, such as reviewing applications and interviewing candidates on an ongoing basis, as is expected of all team members
  • Take on additional selection responsibilities, as needed (e.g., assisting with selection logistics & applicant communications)
  • Data and Logistical Support (10%)
  • Update applicant information and maintain data integrity in Salesforce
  • Collaborate to improve our existing recruitment & selection processes
Support the incoming Class of Fellows (April - July)
  • New Fellow Onboarding (60%)
  • Support the learning & development of Incoming Fellows to ensure they are excellent job seekers
  • Conduct simulations and provide feedback on resumes, bios, pitches, and mock interviews
  • Data and Logistical Support (20%)
  • Update applicant information and maintain data integrity in Salesforce
  • Collaborate to improve our existing recruitment & selection processes
  • Training Camp (20%)
  • Play a major role in the execution of Venture For America’s flagship Training Camp program in Detroit from June 28th to August 6th, 2021
  • Other travel requirements will include occasional visits to other Venture For America cities for job fairs, team retreats, and other events 
You:
  • Have a B.A./B.S. and 1-3 years of work experience
  • Are adaptable in a fast-paced nonprofit, comfortable with ambiguity, and take initiative to solve problems before being asked 
  • Hold a growth mindset when faced with setbacks
  • Demonstrate next-level communication skills in person, writing, and virtually
  • Are excited to have ownership over and achieve excellence in your work 
  • Love building relationships with others to achieve mutually beneficial results
  • Have a passion for diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Are exceptionally organized and don’t miss details and can multitask without dropping anything
  • Live in one of our 14 regions and are able to relocate to Detroit from June 28th to August 6th, 2021 (note: Venture For America is remote through at least December 2020).
