Adrienne Arsht – Rockefeller Foundation Resilience Center Intern – Fall 2020
Our interns are an integral part of the Adrienne Arsht-Rockefeller Foundation Resilience Center. Complementing our growing team, interns play a critical, substantive role in our work, conducting research for projects and publications, participating in strategy and planning discussions, and providing periodic event support. We are actively seeking interns with experience/demonstrated an interest in one or more of our three pillars of work: climate change, migration, and security.
The successful candidates will have a passion for the work, an entrepreneurial ethos, and a collegial spirit while also being an effective communicator and enjoying the fast pace of learning and growing in an organization. Demonstrated interest in international affairs, climate change, migration, and/or security issues is preferred. Interns are also encouraged to pursue their own research projects and to write and publish their own policy briefs or blog posts.
Fall Internships will begin on the following dates:
- September 8, 2020
- September 14, 2020
The deadline to apply is March 31, 2020, but applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis and will continue until a successful candidate has been selected.
The positions are unpaid, but candidates gain valuable skills, experience, knowledge, and contacts in the Washington, DC international policy community. A monthly metro reimbursement is offered, along with Workshops, briefings with fellows, as well as other senior-level staff.
Responsibilities
- Conduct research to support the activities of Center and its mission of reaching one billion people with resilient solutions by 2030, including through projects, reports, speeches, articles, and literature reviews;
- Research and draft memos, blog posts, and articles;
- Work with full-time staff to develop concept papers and proposals for potential future work;
- Draft formal correspondence to government officials and invitations for events;
- Take notes at Council roundtables and strategy sessions; and
- Research, compile, and grow a comprehensive outreach/mailing list.
Qualifications
- Must be at least a college junior in good standing, a graduate student, or a recent graduate, preferably majoring in international affairs.
- Must have at least a 3.0 GPA (out of 4.0) scale, or equivalent from a non-U.S. institution.
- Experienced or have demonstrated an interest in climate change, migration, and/or security issues specifically.
- Independent, self-starters who also work well in a team environment and interact professionally with senior figures.
- Able to combine quick work with extensive attention to detail.
- Excellent communicators, both written and oral.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
