Development and Fundraising Fall Internship

Summary
The Development department handles a broad range of fundraising, from membership coordination, special events, grant writing, & donor outreach.  The Development Intern will gain in-depth knowledge of reproductive rights, have the opportunity to work closely with the progressive donor community, and join a team of experienced political and development professionals.

Location:  Washington, DC *Due to COVID 19 the nature of in-person work environments and stay at home remote work are constantly changing.  We are making accommodations to have remote internships however, you must be able to work hours set in Eastern Time Zone. Home office Stipend will be given in lieu of transportation stipend. 
This position is: Internship, Hourly rate of $15/hr and $50 monthly metro stipend provided
Internship Date: Internship Date: Start date September 8th, 2020 end date flexible on or after December 11th, 2020
Reports To: Grants Associate

Responsibilities
  • Assist with donor research and prospecting
  • Update and maintain donor database
  • Answer member queries via phone and email 
  • Create and edit development materials
  • Assist with event management and logistics
  • Work with vendors and volunteers
  • Provide general administrative support for the Development Department

Qualifications
  • Demonstrated commitment to protecting a woman’s right to choose;
  • Adept in using a variety of online tools to compile background and capacity information for potential donors; 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel; 
  • Knowledgeable in NGP (or experience with another database) is a plus.

Requirements:
  • Currently enrolled in or recently completed an accredited undergraduate or graduate degree program, please note we cannot accept applications from persons having graduated more than 6 months before their start date;
  • Must be available to work a min of 20 hours per week, a minimum of 4 hours a day when in the office, full time preferred
  • Strong commitment to advancing reproductive freedom;
  • Commitment to NARAL Pro-Choice America’s goal of building a political constituency to protect and promote the right of all persons to exercise the full range of their reproductive choices, including abortion;
  • A commitment to contributing to a workplace environment in which diversity is valued and supported;
  • A strong interest in the political process;
  • Strong research, analytical, written and oral communication skills;
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced collaborative environment;
  • Excellent attention to detail;
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and Google Drive;
  • General computer proficiency.
