IT Project Planner (Software Engineer)(Job Id 14270)

The IT Project Planner is responsible for planning and scheduling the Division of Development's project workloads. The IT Project Planner serves as primary point of contact for incoming projects, maintenance requests, and interfaces with requesters to gather additional information, as needed, to better understand the nature of their request. Works closely with the Project Resource Manager to make sure the planning and scheduling of projects is done efficiently.  
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each required duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:
  • ensure the adherence to the appropriate governance functions relating to the portfolio and in accordance with enterprise guidelines, policies, and practices;
  • attend reviews with senior business, IT, executives, stakeholder committees, the IT steering committee, and other relevant bodies to validate and assess the project portfolio, execute change, and re-prioritize to meet business needs;
  • properly prioritize the agency project and maintenance requests.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, information services, or a related field is preferred. The successful candidate should have 5-7 years of proven project and people management skills, excellent research, problem solving, analytical, and communication skills. Software development experience is advantageous.
Knowledge of:
  • computer platforms, operating systems, and protocols;
  • computer science, Microsoft Office, SharePoint, PowerBI;
  • system development methodologies with emphasis on Agile methodology;
  • tools and technologies available to meet multiple client information system requirements;
  • good project management skills and/or substantial exposure to project-based work structures, project lifecycle models, and the software development lifecycle;
  • excellent understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives;
  • experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment;
  • experience managing portfolio’s and or release schedules;
  • willingness to drive process improvementation.
