Retail reporter, e-commerce
Business Insider is looking for a reporter to cover e-commerce for its retail team. This person will cover everything from direct-to-consumer brands like Warby Parker and Casper to e-commerce giants like Amazon and Walmart.
Retailers are rewriting their strategies to appeal to customers that are increasingly turning online for more and more of their shopping. This reporter will be eager to follow along with these developments and explain what they mean for consumers and other businesses.
The ideal candidate will be capable of delivering scoops and exclusives, as well as trend stories, features, and analysis pieces. All stories will be targeted towards Business Insider’s subscription audience, which expects news they can’t find anywhere else.
They will be passionate about the retail industry and excited to explore new ways of telling stories about the things that people buy, especially when it comes to buying and selling these things online.
The ideal candidate will have:
- 3-5 years of reporting experience
- Excellent writing skills
- The ability to develop sources and deliver scoops
- A strong understanding of consumer trends
- An ability to explain complicated topics in a clear, concise manner
- An understanding of how readers consume news digitally
- An ability to work at a fast pace and juggle several stories at once
- A knack for identifying the heart of a story quickly
