M&A Director

Upperline is looking for an M&A Director to drive the front-end of development by executing on an ambitious outreach strategy and play an integral role in the analysis, due diligence, and process management of Upperline’s M&A activity.  

The M&A Director is a critical team member for Upperline as we seek to grow rapidly throughout the United States. This is a hands-on and fast pace business development and finance role that reports directly to Upperline’s Chief Development Officer. To be successful at this position, you need to be able to think quickly on your feet, be self-motivated, and be extraordinarily organized. You would handle a comprehensive and diverse set of development and pre-close M&A activities including initial outreach and proactive follow-up communication to targets in partnership with Upperline Medical Directors as well as drive each deal to a signed LOI. Post-LOI, you would take a lead role in analytically and creatively solving problems that arise in addition to being part of the team that takes each deal through diligence and to a successful closing. Upperline is looking for strong performers who are comfortable in an entrepreneurial, fast-paced environment, who can handle tasks both big and small and who can effectively work with a diversity of stakeholders (including doctors and Upperline executives). What you’ll do 
  • M&A deal sourcing & pipeline development: take a lead in organizing and executing an extensive outreach campaign to targets in various markets in partnership with Upperline Medical Directors. 
  • Problem Solving: strategically think and understand the intricacies of the deals, model out solutions to complex problems, flag and communicate issues that arise and present potential solutions to them clearly and concisely. 
  • Diligence management: you will own multiple workflows that all require successful project management and tactical execution on a high volume of tasks in order to balance competing demands and hit diligence deadlines to produce expected results. 
  • M&A Analysis: post LOI, this role requires exceptional analytical instincts, a tremendous amount of detailed-organized thinking and the ability to execute efficiently with a constant understanding of priorities to ensure an on-time and orderly launch.
  • Cross-functional work: you will coordinate and collaborate cross-functionally with our business operations, clinical operations and M&A team, which includes driving consistent accountability at all levels to ensure seamless execution of acquisition diligence. 
  • Closing deals: you will assist in reviewing submitted materials, flagging areas of concerns and planning for synergy targets.
  • Professional development: with training and mentorship from the Chief Development Officer, you will work closely with the entire C-suite and have significant exposure to a high growth, PE backed company. You will have the ability to increasingly play a more active role in the wider business development activities of the company with demonstrated ability and success.  

About you 
  • Relationship and sales oriented: ability to proactively prospect and engage with potential acquisition targets and successfully connect them with our business development team to learn more about Upperline. From initial contact through transaction closing, you will remain engaged and work with the target in committing to sign an LOI in partnership with the Chief Development Officer.

Qualifications 
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher
  • Two years of experience in management consulting, investment banking, private equity, strategy or business development
  • Demonstrable success leading initiatives or diverse teams, establishing and achieving goals, and succeeding in a team environment
  • Superior analytical and modeling skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

Nice to Haves 
  • Previous experience at a top firm is preferred
  • Experience with high volume M&A activity is a plus
  • Healthcare experience is a plus
  • Experience in high-growth or early stage start-up is a plus
