The Montgomery County Engineer's Office (MCEO) located in Dayton, Ohio is responsible for building, maintaining, and operating 540 bridges and 315 miles of county roads. MCEO is seeking an entry level engineer to join our design team. Position assists senior engineering staff with the design and preparation of plans for minor roadway, bridge, drainage and asphalt resurfacing projects.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Performs design activities for road and bridge construction projects that incorporate design calculations for road alignments, bridges, and drainage systems
  • Assists in preparing bid submittal documents for capital improvement projects which include the annual asphalt resurfacing and crack seal programs
  • Performs project coordination activities with utility companies, property owners, and other government agencies
  • Prepares construction drawings and designs using AutoCAD Civil 3D
 
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from an Accreditation Board for Engineering and technology (ABET) curriculum
  • 0 to 4 years of engineering design experience involving road, bridge and/or drainage projects
  • Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering examination within one year of beginning employment
  •  Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  •  Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D preferred, but not required
  •  Familiarity with ODOT Location & Design Manual and ODOT C&MS preferred, but not required
  • Ability to analyze problems and deal with conflict effectively
  •  Strong communication skills and experience relating to the public, peers and support personnel
  •  Valid State of Ohio Driver's License or ability to obtain within 6 months
