Quality Engineer (Partner Tools & Operations)

Tysons, VA

Position Overview:

Alarm.com is seeking a Quality Engineer to support our Partner Tools and Operations team by testing the multiple tools offered to our partners and internal stakeholders, testing the integration with some hardware devices and multiple software platforms, the Partner tools and operations QE will be working on critical priorities for the business and collaborating with internal teams like marketing, supply chain, finance and CORE to ensure our products meet quality standards of functionality and performance.

The ideal candidate will have a college degree, at least 1 year of relevant experience working on quality engineering related activities or projects, have computer/technology skills, will be able to communicate clearly, and will contribute towards product/system improvements to resolve in-field product issues and improve overall product Quality. You should be a self-starter who can work closely with the development team to discover, report, and validate fixes for issues.   

Responsibilities:
  • Developing test plans and updating test documentation as needed before/during/after testing
  • Executing tests, tracking defects, and following defects through the resolution process until fix is verified and closed.
  • Interacting with Developers and Product Management to ensure the products and feature are ready for launch.
  • Ensure partner portal web interface performance and usability on a weekly basis.
  • Setting up and maintaining test environments and equipment.
  • Triage urgent problems, prioritize accordingly, and propose a resolution
  • Collaborate with our internal stakeholders to understand the needs and how the product will be used internally or by our partners.
  • Be an advocate for our partners and internal stakeholders.
  • Design and maintain weekly smoke test. 

Must Haves:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Science, or Information Technology
  • Excellent problem solving, troubleshooting, time management, and analysis skills
  • Ability to work independently, raise issues and take corrective action
  • Exceptional communication skills in order to articulate quality assurance practices
  • Self-motivated with strong technical and communication skills, and a deep interest in product quality
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to make decisions based on test results to advise management and customers

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 1-2 years of QE experience in a fast-paced, agile environment
  • Strong background in Quality Assurance
  • Experience with functional and regression testing, test planning, test case development.
  • Advanced computer/technology skills/certifications
