About Seedling:

Seedling is a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit organization based in Austin, Texas that provides mentoring services to children with a long-term, positive relationship that helps them navigate the challenges experienced during an extended period of family separation due to parental incarceration and help children develop or maintain positive attitudes towards education.

Our mission is to support children challenged by parental incarceration with innovative, research-driven, school-based mentoring. Since 2006, Seedling’s Mentor Program has served over 2400 students, with a presence at one time or another on 150+ campuses in 11 districts and 16 charter schools in Austin and Central Texas.

Internship Description:

We are currently seeking motivated and hard-working applicants for Fall 2020. We are looking for a talented person who can help Seedling elevate its social media presence on multiple platforms. As an intern, you will get to work with a variety of our staff, while working on real projects that will help us grow awareness of our organization in Central Texas and beyond. We are working on expanding and engaging our social media network and we’re looking for someone who can help us create relevant and compelling content that will engage followers.

Our ideal candidate is someone who is obsessed with social media, knows how to develop cool content, is a good social media writer with an eye for great photography and videography, and is thoughtful when interacting with online communities and building relationships.

Responsibilities:

●     Assist with the design and execution of social media campaigns
●     Create weekly and monthly editorial calendars to promote company brands
●     Create and distribute content such as blogs, infographics, videos and press releases on Facebook, Youtube, Instagram, LinkedIn and Twitter
●     Track social media engagement to identify high-performing ideas and campaigns for scalability
●     Support marketing and development team at live and online events
●     Photography and videography (lights, interviews, 2 mins, short-form videos)
●     Other marketing and communication related tasks as assigned

Qualifications:
●     Junior or Senior undergraduate student majoring in field related to marketing, journalism, public relations or related field (graduate student preferred)
●     Interest in non-profit work
●     Interest in organization’s focus areas (education, children, mentoring, and fundraising)
●     Experience with the major social media platforms including Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn
●     Knowledge of social media analytics software including Facebook Insights, Google Analytics and Twitter Analytics to track audience engagement and campaign performance
