Digital Communications, Intern

INTERNSHIP SUMMARY:
The Digital Communications Intern will work closely with the Digital Communications Producer to help curate and amplify EngenderHealth’s online/digital presence.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Develop plan and content for marking the 25th anniversary of the Fourth World Conference on Women (Beijing+25)
  • Assist with daily social media management and creation of a social media strategy
  • Monitor social media trends and engage in relevant conversations and campaigns
  • Create graphics for social media, website, and email (using Canva, Photoshop, etc.)
  • Report on social media metrics (posts and ad performance, audience growth, etc.)
  • Help develop and package content (video clips, photos, anecdotes) for social media
  • Assist with database maintenance, including digital content organization
  • Conduct research and gather facts on relevant topics (sexual and reproductive health and rights, gender equality, gendered impacts of COVID-19, etc.)
  • Assist with administrative and organizational communications tasks as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
  • Currently pursuing or has completed a B.A. or M.A in communications, journalism, digital media, public relations, marketing, public health, international studies, or other similar degree
  • Fluency in English required (fluency in French would be an asset, but is not required)
  • Excellent writing and editing skills
  • Passion for social media and digital communications
  • Interest in one of the following areas: sexual and reproductive health and rights, global health, women's rights, gender equality
  • Not required but ideal: a proficiency in graphic design, WordPress, formal experience with social media management
  • Must be comfortable and respectful of EngenderHealth’s programming that promotes sexual and reproductive rights, gender equality, sexual diversity, and LGBTQ rights

DURATION AND LOCATION OF THE INTERNSHIP: 
  • The internship will last approximately 8 weeks and ideally would commence by July 20, 2020, with an opportunity to extend dependent upon need. 
  • The time commitment for this internship is 20- 29 hours per week.
  • The position is based at EngenderHealth, Washington DC, but due to COVID-19, this will be a remote work based position.

COMPENSATION: 
  • This will be an unpaid internship or academic credit
