The Career Services office in the College of Natural Sciences is now accepting applications for the position of Communications Intern.  This individual will assist in overseeing and developing the various platforms used to communicate to students, alumni, employers and faculty.  
 
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 
 
Social Media 
  • Assist in managing Instagram, Twitter and Facebook accounts 
  • Create and post relevant content (text and graphics)  
  • Research and implement new strategies to expand social media reach  
  • Search for resources, articles, and stories relevant to career education and share on social media platforms 
  • Assist in developing new and maintaining existing social media campaigns (#HookedAnOffer and Employer Takeovers) 
 
Digital Media 
  • Design graphics for office events, workshops, and resources using Canva or other design software 
  • Assist in writing and updating content for website, newsletters and event calendars 
  • Collaborate with staff to create strategies to increase awareness of office events and resources 
 
Additional Duties 
  • Aid in the planning and execution of events 
  • Serve as a representative for Career Services, if needed, at events, tabling and presentations 
  • Other office duties as assigned 
 
 
QUALIFICATIONS 
  • Full-time student pursuing a degree in communications, public relations, advertising or marketing OR another degree with sufficient related experience 
  • Experience managing social media for a business, organization or student organization 
  • Ability to design digital graphics using Canva or Adobe Creative  
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills 
  • Ability to take initiative and ownership of projects  
  • Familiar with Mac and PC platforms and Microsoft Office Word, PowerPoint, and Excel 
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality 
 
 
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 
  • Able to work for at least one year 
  • Previous internship or part-time work experience 
  • Experience working in professional office setting  
 
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION 
Pay Rate: $10/hour 
 
Hours: 10-12 hours per week, including both office hours and event times outside of normal business hours. 
 
Start Date: August 2020
 
Position Duration: Preferred for students to be able to work for an entire year.  Working in this position and continuing into each semester thereafter is contingent upon job performance and office needs.
