Office of Emergency Management Planning Intern

The Office of Emergency Management (OEM) supports the County Judge in their role as the Director of Emergency Management for the County.  OEM facilitates the coordination of disaster preparedness, mitigation, response, and recovery planning for Travis County in cooperation with the county's various municipal governments. OEM staff assists in staffing and sponsoring a joint City of Austin-Travis County Emergency Operations Center.

Under the direction of staff

1)     Assist with the surveying of emergency shelter sites in Travis County; track and update progress related to completing shelter agreements, site contacts forms and other documents as required.

2)     Assist with development of training material for shelter managers based on American Red Cross shelter manager training program.

3)     Assess the disaster preparedness level of Travis County residents in targeted areas.

4)     Work on other projects as requested.
