Executive Office, Strategic Partnership Unit Internship

The IAF’s Student Volunteer Service Program provides opportunities for students to acquire work-related educational experience and be part of mission-driven activities. The Strategic Partnerships Unit within the Executive Office is seeking an intern to assist with a range of writing, research, and communications activities to advance IAF partnerships with the private sector. 

Potential tasks include:
  • Help with research and data gathering for due diligences on potential partners
  • Track information on existing and potential partnerships
  • Support the development of partnership-related communications materials, including factsheets, content for the web, power points, etc.
  • Assist in crafting fundraising and partner engagement messages for social media
  • Support meetings, outreach activities, and events related to donor/partner engagement
  • Other duties as needed to support Executive Office priorities
 
Desired Qualifications and Skills:
  • Strong writing skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to manage deadlines independently
  • Excellent language skills in English and preferably Spanish or Portuguese
  • Strong interest in international development issues
  • Knowledge of Latin America and the Caribbean
 
Interns will have the opportunity to:
  • Learn about fundraising and partnership engagement
  • Learn partnership strategies for a small, independent foreign assistance agency of the U.S. government that seeks to increase its visibility and credibility among a wide range of audiences
  • Learn from career development professionals about strategies for investing in citizen-led development for greatest impact in the long term
  • Learn about the social, economic, political, and cultural context in Latin American and Caribbean communities where the IAF supports grants
  • Improve writing and editing skills
  • Improve Spanish or Portuguese language skills through exposure in a professional setting and/or through courses offered onsite
  • Learn how a U.S. government agency works
