Southern Bride has been mentoring interns for over 20 years. Our policy is to encourage each student to gain experience in those fields they are interested and to complement the classes they have taken. Under no circumstances do they replace any of our paid positions - though alternatively, they receive training side-by-side meaningful assignments and projects and get feedback upon completion. Interns are encouraged to ask questions - we want them to understand what an employer expects of them; additionally, an intern learns the importance of paying close attention to details and deadlines. At the end of their internship, interns are encouraged to utilize us for letters of recommendation as long as they have earned that right. Seventy-five percent of our paid staff was once a Southern Bride intern.

Make note we observe the FLSA guidelines. We will only assign an intern to a mentor for teaching purposes through assignments and projects used in the workplace as learning tools for students to understand future employers' expectations https://www.dol.gov/agencies/whd/fact-sheets/71-flsa-internships.
