Junior Geotechnical Engineer
Hatch, a full-service Water Power consultancy, is currently seeking a Graduate Geotechnical Engineer to join the Water Power team in our Amherst, New York office.
Candidate will be given the opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects providing the ability to explore interests, while developing the skills necessary to become a successful engineer. The ideal candidate must be highly motivated, team oriented and dependable.
Professional Qualifications/Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil/Structural engineering from an accredited University.
- Experience with AutoCAD/Civil 3D, MicroStation, ArcGIS or other engineering related software is a plus.
- Spanish speaking, a plus
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good planning and organizational skills.
- Ability to function with minimal supervision.
- Sound understanding of design engineering codes and technical standards.
- Must have the ability to walk on dam faces, climb ladders, enter outlet pipes, and conduct other similar physical activities.
- Good safety awareness.
Responsibilities:
- Perform conceptual and detailed engineering design
- Prepare engineering calculations
- Prepare technical specifications
- Prepare data sheets
- Prepare and contribute to technical memos and reports
- Provide input to engineering, operating and capital cost estimates
- Prepare and/or review project procedures, standard specifications and design criteria
- Participate in and contribute to design reviews
- Carry out assigned tasks within budget and schedule
- Assist in defining project scope
