Transportation Capacity Planner
The Transportation Capacity Planner is responsible for securing adequate capacity for booked freight using company assets, and then scheduling the transportation of loads from shipper to destination. The ultimate goal of this position is for deliveries to be on time and in compliance with government regulations, company standards and customer expectations.
This logistics role is ideal for someone who can think quickly on both a detailed and big picture scale, and enjoys uncovering those hard-to-find solutions (and backup solutions to your solutions) within large sets of data.
- Balance and maintain trailer pool inventory by routing outbound drivers in surplus regions to deficit areas with surging coverage needs
- Pair trucks that are empty and/or unloading soon with freight needing to be picked up, and confirm dispatch assignments with drivers
- Continually monitor incoming load requests noting locations for pick-up, delivery, dates and required times
- Ensure efficient turnaround time for loads to minimize driver down time
- Implement contingency logistics plans to secure on-time freight delivery in the event of an en-route breakdown or accident
- Generate regular and ad-hoc reporting as required
